Unipart team undertake 3 Peaks challenge

Although a lot of preparation has already gone into the run up to this event, today is the day that the real challenge begins.

Teams from around Unipart departed from our Burton Upon Trent site at 10am this morning and are currently making their way to sunny - or not so sunny - Scotland to begin the 3 Peaks in 24 hours challenge.

Their plan of action is to arrive in Scotland at around 6pm on Wednesday 19th June where they will spend the night in a Bunk House and spend the evening relaxing before the Big Day. At 5pm on Thursday 20th June they are expected to be stood at the foot of Ben Nevis (6 miles up & down) and ready to climb their first peak which will need to be completed within 5 hours in order to stay on track. They will then head back to the mini buses where they will try and get some sleep whilst the drivers progress to the Lake District through the early hours of the morning and head to the second peak, Scafell Pike. The target time to complete the 2nd Peak is 4 hours before heading off to the final peak, Snowdon in North Wales.

The team are not completing the event just for fun. Their aim is to raise £250 each with a combined goal of £10,000. All money raised will be going to Marie Curie Cancer Care which is a fantastic cause. If walking 3 mountains within 24 hours is not for you don’t worry….you can still help the team by donating to their Virgin Money Giving Page. Every donation will help them to achieve their team target of £10,000. If you would like to donate, no matter how large or small (every little helps), you can do this by following the link below. The link also shows a full list of all team members.

This is no easy feat by any means and the teams have completed many practise events in the run up to this event. We witnessed members who are completing the challenge arriving onsite earlier this morning. There was a fantastic atmosphere amongst them all and as much as this will be a test of their physical ability you get the sense that they are also going to have great fun along the way.

We shall also be posting pictures to the Facebook page that has been created to support this event so if you have an account then you can visit https://www.facebook.com/Unipart3Peaks for more information.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the following sponsors who have contributed to this event:

Maxi Muscle have provided the walkers with a large quantity of drinking bottles energy drinks & bars.

Tesco in Burton Upon Trent kindly provided a discount on the teams shopping when they purchased all of the supplies for their breakfast & evening meals

We aim to provide you with further information during the 3 Peaks Challenge including photos of the progress so please stay posted.
